Project Brief:

Description:

Castle Towers Shopping Centre redevelopment joint venture being between Built Australia and Obayashi Corporation. It will entail a new multi-tenant retail precinct on levels 2 and 3 and scheduled to open in late 2026. Future works on this site will include the construction of a 12-storey commercial office building (16,500m2) and a 190 to 210 room lifestyle hotel also consisting of Metro integration with Castle Hill Metro Station.

The Challenge:

In the redevelopment, Built had 4 new retail precincts that required a full transformation from the ground up, but needed to consider the topping loads on the original PT slabs to make the floor space suitable for the new high end retail outlets, including City Beach, Nike, JD Sports and LSKD.  Due to the PT Slab and the required weight restrictions, concrete or traditional type levelling materials were not suitable and would overload the substrate.

The Solution:

RLA Polymers in conjunction with Allseal proposed to Built Australia the use of the RLA Tru Level Light Weight leveller. Tru Level Light Weight is up to 40% lighter than conventional compounds and can be applied between 1mm to 80mm in application. It is suitable for pump application and RCS compliant. All of which were key factors in selecting the right material for this project. The material was approved and the project completed in a 3 week period, which included the installation of 4,500 bags at an average of 50mm to 80mm thick by Drew and the Allseal Team.

Customer Benefits – Key Points:

RLA Polymers were present before, during and after the installation to provide onsite support and guidance.

Allseal and RLA Polymers conducted off site pre-trials before commencing the project to make sure the install team were confident when commencing on site.

RLA Polymers provided a project specific warranty to further support Allseal and ensure that they are fully supported prior, during and beyond the completion of the project.

Builder / Contractor Feedback:

Allseal stated several times during and after the project that the Tru Level Light Weight is a fantastic product and Drew and his team loved installing it. The finish is great, flows and cures extremely well. Drew also mentioned that the support he receives from RLA Polymers was extremely welcomed and made the entire process as easy as possible.

Feedback from Built was also great and confirmed that they will definitely be considering this material on all lightweight projects moving forward.

Substrate Preperation:

Substrate ground back then vacuumed clean to ensure no surface debris or contaminants remained on the surface. Primed using RLA Universal Primer. Heights surveyed and marked with height gauges for ease of application and depth guidance.
